Trichostatin A – A HDAC inhibitor (BioVision)

Potent, reversible inhibitor of histone deacetylase. Mediates the activation of O6- methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT). May be involved in cell cycle progression of several cell types, induces cell growth arrest at both G1 and G2/M phases. In some cases induces apoptosis.

Thapsigargin – A calcium releaser (BioVision)

Potent, cell permeable IP3-independent intracellular calcium releaser; Inhibits microsomal Ca2+-ATPase; Stimulates arachidonic acid metabolism in macrophages.

Staurosporine – A protein kinase inhibitor (BioVision)

Potent inhibitor of protein kinase C and most other kinases, including tyrosine kinases. Inhibits topoisomerase II directly by blocking transfer of phosphodiester bonds from DNA to active site tyrosine. Induces apoptosis in CHO cells at 1 µM.

Ionomycin (free acid) (BioVision)

Antibiotic that acts as a potent and selective calcium ionophore; more effective than A23187. Ionomycin binds Ca2+ in the 7.0-9.5 pH range with the resulting complex exhibiting intense UV absorption.

Geldanamycin – A Hsp90 inhibito (BioVision Inc.)

A potent antitumor antibiotic . Binds specifically to heat shock protein HSP90 and its GP96 homologue; inhibits protein maturation.

Doxorubicin.HCl – Anti-tumor antibiotic (BioVision Inc.)

Anti-tumor antibiotic. Inhibitor of Reverse transcriptase and RNA Polymerase. Immunosuppressive agent. Highly effective myotoxin that inhibits topoisomerase II. Binds to Nucleic acids, presumably by specific intercalation into the DNA double helix, thereby inhibiting necleic acid synthesis. Induces apoptosis.

G418 Sulfate – An antibiotic and a selection agent (BioVision Inc.)

Aminoglycoside antibiotic related to gentamycin that inhibits prokaryotic and eukaryotic protein synthesis. Toxic to bacteria, yeast, protozoans, helminths, higher plant, and mammalian cells.

Daunorubicin.HCl (BioVision Inc.)

Potent anti-cancer agent whose potential target site may be mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase. Inhibits RNA and DNA synthesis. Also inhibits eukaryotic topoisomerase I & II. Induces DNA single strand breaks and apoptosis in HeLaS3 tumor cells.

Cycloheximide – A protein synthesis inhibitor (BioVision Inc.)

A very active antibiotic against many yeasts and fungi. Inhibits protein synthesis in eukaryotes (but not in prokaryotes) by interfering with the translocation step.
