S100A12, also known as CCRP and calgranulin C, is encoded by the S100A12 gene and a member of the S100 family. Found secreted by neutrophils, monocytes, and keratinocytes in which the protein plays significant roles as antiparasitic, anti-infectious, and antibacterial. Moreover, oligomerization and target interactions by S100A12 is regulated by both zinc and calcium ions resulting in cell signaling and changes in cellular microenvironment.
