The ZymoBIOMICS DNA Kits are microbial DNA purification kits designed for purifying DNA from a variety of sample inputs that is immediately ready for microbiome or metagenome analyses. The ZymoBIOMICS lysis system eliminates bias associated with unequal lysis efficiencies of different organisms (e.g. Gram-negative/positive bacteria, fungus, protozoans, and algae), making it ideal for microbial community profiling. Uniform mechanical lysis of all microbes is achieved by bead beating with the innovative ultra-high density BashingBeads. This kit is equipped with our OneStep PCR Inhibitor removal technology, enabling PCR amplification from DNA derived from inhibitor-rich environmental samples. Purified DNA is ideal for all downstream applications including PCR, arrays, 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and shotgun sequencing. DNA Size is 15-20 kb.

Good kit for doing 96-well mag-bead DNA extractions, eg with a KingFisher robot
This has been a great product for extracting DNA from filters. The DNA just needs to be removed from the filters by vortexing or bead-beating before adding the the 96-well plate. Depending on the protocol variation, some reagents are consumed faster than others, but it has been possible to order additional reagents from Zymo.

Amazing kits and supplies, Zymo also goes beyond regarding their customer service.
Zymo kits and consumables are always a good option and the fact that they allow you to test their products on your application for free is amazing. I have not seen any product be considerably outperformed by any of the other brands that supply similar products. Their customer service is consistently outstanding with fast response timing and always willing to help you find the best product for your application. I always recommend getting in contact with their technical service to discuss any questions you may have. There are many times when they have pointed me to an amazing product they offer but that I had no idea was available. It is extremely valuable that they offer most of the components of their kits sold separately so you can purchase exactly what you need and not spend your funds on supplies you did not need.
