TAS ELISA                                   

REACTIVITY

 The test reacted with all PDV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is very strong.  Optical Density at 405nm  is in arrange of 0.900 - >3.000 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.

SENSITIVITY

Sensitivity of the ELISA is high.  The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted  at 1:2430.

SPECIFICITY

There is no cross reaction with healthy plant  tissues such as peach, plum, apricot, or other host plants. Background is very low on all of  the negative control wells.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE VIRUS

Vector:  Transmitted by means not involving a vector.
Main natural host plants: VPrunus domestica, Prunus cerasus, Prunus persica.Virus Infection:  Symptoms by viral infection include leathery, strap-like leaves, leaf yellowing and abscission, stunting. Symptoms persist.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Cucumis sativus - small chlorotic local lesions; systemic mosaic;  Sesbania exaltata - small dark local lesions in cotyledons; not systemic, Momordica balsamina - chlorotic local lesions; systemic mottle, Tithonia speciosa - prominent chlorotic lines and rings.
Geographical distribution: Probably distributed worldwide.
