DAS ELISA                                   

REACTIVITY

 The test reacted with all BaMMV isolates tested. Reaction of the ELISA is very strong.  Optical Density at 405nm  is in arrange of 1.100 - >3.000 depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.

SENSITIVITY

Sensitivity of the ELISA is high.  The virus can be consistently detected in infected plant tissues diluted  at 1:810 - 1:2430.

SPECIFICITY

There is no cross reaction with healthy plant  tissues such as barley, corn or other host plants. Background is low on all of  the negative control wells.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE VIRUS


Vector:  Transmitted by a vector; a fungus; Polymyxa graminis (Mastigomycotina); Plasmodiophorales. Principal natural vector(s): Polymyxa graminis.
Main natural host plants: Hordeum vulgare.Virus Infection:  Symptoms vary seasonally, in winter or early spring only. Symptoms yellow streaks, brown necrosis. Leaves may roll making the plant look `spiky'.
Diagnostically susceptible host species and symptoms: Hordeum vulgare, Lagurus ovatus, Eremopyrum hirsutum, Aegilops kotschyi, A. searsii, A. speltoides - systemic leaf streaking.
Geographical distribution: Spreads in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, and the UK.
